In the average duration of 4.5 years of follow-up period, compared with patients who were randomized to receive placebo-treated, the accidental death, defined arrhythmic death or resuscitated cardiac arrest patient who use ramipril, and the incidence decreased 21%. Randomly assigned to take ramipril patients, 155 patients (3.3%) took place the mixed prognosis of events, while the placebo group is 195 patients (4.2%) (RR 0.79, 95% CI 0.64-0.98, P = 0.028). In addition, the ramipril group lethal death (accidental or defined arrhythmic death: RR 0.81, 95% CI 0.64-1.02, P = 0.072) and the events of non-fatal primary prognosis (the recovered cardiac arrest: RR 0.65 , 95% CI 0.38-1.13, P = 0.127) occurred in downward trend.

Dr Teo concluded that in high-risk patients of no clinical heart failure or without obvious left ventricular systolic dysfunction, ramipril can reduce fatal and non-fatal incidents of serious arrhythmia.
