According to "Reuters" report, a new study suggests that comparing with gentle male patients,  strong hostile patients with heart disease have more than twice risk to get heart attack and hospital treatment. However, this result does not apply to women.

The hostility in the study is defined as: In addition to being aggressive or easily angry, also including suspicious character, cynical, and irritability and impatienc to others. Researchers from the New York Mount Sinai Medical College ot the United States have studied 139 men and 88 women with coronary heart disease. All subjects accepted a personality testing called the Cook-Medley hostility level. Through four years of follow-up study, researchers found that comparing with male patients who got lower test scores, male patients with higher scores got twice risk of suffering from heart-related illness or hospitalization due to heart disease; but the risk of contracting this disease for female who accepted test  had nothing to do with hostility test scores. The researchers noted that men with high hostility test scores are not easy to accept the guidance of a doctor, even not willing to get treatment in accordance with the recommendations of doctors.

For the study subjects were randomly selected from the crowd, assessments of the relationship between heart disease and hostility may be more accurate. The researchers concluded that at present the hostile treatment can not come to a conclusion to be able to reduce the risk of heart disease, because it is a personality characteristic rather than a disease. However, researches had stated that cognitive behavioral therapy not only can reduce the hostility, but also lower blood pressure.
